Xie Xuanjun (謝選駿, born 1954) is a Chinese-American scholar, independent writer, and cultural critic. In 1978, despite having never graduated from elementary school before the Cultural Revolution, he was admitted to the Graduate School of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences based on equivalent qualifications and earned his master’s degree in 1981.In 1987, after publishing Myth and National Spirit, he was invited to write and plan the CCTV documentary series River Elegy.
